John says things are going "beyond perfect". The local Russian people have said they cannot believe how easily our group has made it through passport control and travelling. They are currently at 11,800 feet. They are asleep right now. Tomorrow they will hike to 15,000 ft to adjust to the altitude; then, if the weather is good, go for the summit. John said it is very cold, but the boys are doing fantastic and have great attitudes! They have even had the chance to overcome an obstacle. The airlines (not sure which one) has misplaced Nick's bag - his mountaineering bag. The rest of the team divided up their gear, and Nick is fully outfitted. Reception on the sat phone is okay - so hopefully we will get a call tomorrow!

London! Busses, Taxis and a Ferris Wheel
May 29, 2007, 2:51 pm
The group is back at the airport after an adventure filled day in London. My friend, Nikki, and her 2 year old treated the boys to a tour of London. They met at Paddington Station and then visited; via a Hop On/Off bus, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliment, Downing Street (the Prime Minister's home), and they rode the largest ferris wheel - 'The Eye of London' - 400 feet above ground.
The guys, despite being very tired, are doing great and are having a great time. John enjoyed watching them take in all the sights with mouths agape. Thank you to Lance and Nikki Allen for their generousity that provided such a fun day and Nikki's terrific job as tour guide!
A note of interest... Mom's don't panic, they are fine.... their airplane was struck by lightning on their descent into London. Evidently, this happens and they didn't even know it - the pilot made an announcement informing them of the strike! All they heard was the thunder and a flash. It hit the wing near 3 of our travellers!

After 11 months of training, community service and major improvements to each of our lives we are headed to Russia.
Last night we celebrated the young men at Chipotle. They are so excited! A few funny comments this week from team members included; 'I am ready to go today. Can we change our tickets'!, 'Last night I slept with my backpack'.
Tonight we fly from Denver to London where we will be met by a friend of mine who will give us a 8 hour tour of London.
Thank you all for helping us live this dream! With out your support, love and financial backing today would not be a reality for these amazing young men.
We love you and will cherish every prayer you lift up for us.
